My birthday was last Monday and as I was putting some away into the freezer after breakfast. I decided to eat a small sliver….because it was just too delicious to just put away! As I told most people, including my parents…..”it was an orgasmic cake!” That good. Really.
But is it really wrong to eat cake for breakfast?
In most cases, this would seem wrong.
From a nutrition standpoint, really wrong!
But when you start looking at life in general, deprivation is not the key to success or happiness in life.
Indulgence might be a bit much of another extreme, but some treats every day, especially on your birthday are acceptable and encouraged!
Did eating cake for breakfast throw me off the for the rest of the day? Nope.
It was not all I had for breakfast – I still had half of my green Anti-Inflammatory Shake and some animal protein, so adding cake did not throw my blood sugar into a tail spin. Or rather an upswing.
I have learned how to honor my body with the things it needs, including a small sliver of decadent chocolate cake with chocolate mousse and raspberry cream! Real ingredients. Really yummy!
It does have fruit!
It does have cream which is a healthy fat to slow the absorption of sugar.
It does have eggs, so additional protein 🙂
I can go on about the merits and demerits, but learning how to disengage from those experts in your head telling you the food choices you made are ‘wrong’….that is the real issue here.
Labeling a food as ‘wrong’ just sets you up for resentment, guilt, embarrassment….and more indulgent eating to alleviate the negative self talk and berating comments you dealt yourself. It becomes a death spiral of sorts.
I have done many Path To Heal sessions to overcome the experts in my head, to overcome the guilt or eating something most would label as ‘wrong’. I have done the same with client sessions.
This is a terrible way to live, analyzing every bit you eat. Where is the fun in that?
Life is more about having fun and some splurges included….including a piece of cake for breakfast!
Choose self love. Choose to celebrate every day! and never worry about whether a food is ‘wrong’ to eat at any time of day.
Accept your choices whatever they may be.
